Totnes Town

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Devon and Cornwall.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Drug supply and drug use in towns and cities brings with it crime and ASB. We aim to tackle this with high visibility patrols, pro active stop checks and intelligence building.

The community can play a part in this intelligence building by reporting suspicious incidents and any concerns around the use of controlled drugs and selling of controlled drugs that they witness.

Issued 01 October 2025

The Totnes team have already started carrying out patrols of known hot spots where drug use has been habitually used in the past. This will continue, looking to identify individuals using and selling controlled drugs in Totnes Town and surrounding villages.

Actioned 03 October 2025

There has been a recent increase in ASB, including criminal damage in Totnes. This has ranged from the vandalism of the new E-bikes located in Bridgetown and throwing life saving equipment into the river Dart on Vire Island.

This behaviour is unacceptable, and takes away key services for the community.

Water safety aids are there for emergency use and are expensive to replace and if needed, will not be available until replaced.

Issued 30 September 2025

Patrols have increased during the evenings and weekends in Totnes Town and Totnes Neighbourhood Team have a meeting with South Hams District Council to try and find a safe location for the E bikes in Bridgetown where we can try to stop the needless vandalism and have the bikes available for the community to use.

Actioned 07 October 2025

A recent increase in theft of motor vehicles (mopeds/motorbikes/quads) has been identified. (Sep 25). The local neighbourhood team will be focusing our response to the series through crime prevention and investigation.

Issued 25 September 2025

DC Alert and social media crime prevention advice has gone out.
Extra patrols during hours of darkness.
Investigation ongoing and updates to follow.
