Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Devon and Cornwall.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Anti Social Behaviour

Issued 01 June 2026

To work with our local communities to identify areas where Anti Social behaviour is prevalent.
To work in partnership with local councils, housing associations and other organisations, to form problem solving plans to reduce as much as possible any form of Anti Social behaviour.
We will carry out high visibility patrols and engage with those present and to reassure our communities
Where necessary we will use both criminal law and civil injunctions against those who are persistently responsible for Anti social behaviour

Reports of ASB help the beat team direct our foot and vehicle patrols. The team have engaged with local community members and key individuals to keep the area safe. Assertive Outreach youth work will be delivered in the area. Increased foot patrols have been delivered in the town and around the multi storey car park in response to driving and noise complaints.

Patrol focus around the multi Storey car park and local schools after reports of concern.

Shoplifting

Issued 01 June 2026

We will be engaging with our retail outlets to listen to their concerns, give security advice when required and gather evidence to support any action against offenders.
We will work with our colleagues particularly where children or young people are involved to ensure they are safeguarded as well as being aware of the potential criminality of their actions.
We will deal with prolific thieves using banning letters, civil orders and where necessary the criminal justice system to make them take responsibilities for their actions

UKPAC (UK Partners Against Crime) and Auror are collaborating to transform how retail crime is reported and managed in the UK, with Devon and Cornwall Police (DCP) acting as a key partner in adopting this technology. Officers have visited stores to increase awareness and to prevent future offences.

Arrests of U18 and adult offenders have led to charges for theft. Patrols of the high streets and local communities have taken place in support of our retail outlets. We will continue responding to reports of thefts from our retail community.
