Shoplifting

Issued 01 June 2026

We will be engaging with our retail outlets to listen to their concerns, give security advice when required and gather evidence to support any action against offenders.
We will work with our colleagues particularly where children or young people are involved to ensure they are safeguarded as well as being aware of the potential criminality of their actions.
We will deal with prolific thieves using banning letters, civil orders and where necessary the criminal justice system to make them take responsibilities for their actions

UKPAC (UK Partners Against Crime) and Auror are collaborating to transform how retail crime is reported and managed in the UK, with Devon and Cornwall Police (DCP) acting as a key partner in adopting this technology. Officers have visited stores to increase awareness and to prevent future offences.

Store visits led by PCSO to promote UKPAC to prevent crime and increase reporting. Patrols of Teignmouth have taken place in support of our retail outlets. We will continue responding to reports of thefts from our retail community.
