Exminster & Rural

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Devon and Cornwall.

Please find contact details for your Neighbourhood Policing Team provided below.

Local Priority Issues

Priority Action taken

Anti Social Behaviour

Issued 01 June 2026

To work with our local communities to identify areas where Anti Social behaviour is prevalent.
To work in partnership with local councils, housing associations and other organisations, to form problem solving plans to reduce as much as possible any form of Anti Social behaviour.
We will carry out high visibility patrols and engage with those present and to reassure our communities
Where necessary we will use both criminal law and civil injunctions against those who are persistently responsible for Anti social behaviour
Reports of ASB remain low in the areas, the team have conducted foot and vehicle patrols and engaged with local community members and key individuals to keep the area safe.

Members of the Neighbourhood Police Team have been conducting Hi Visibility patrols around the Chudleigh and Exminster area.

To support our communities by providing high visibility reassurance patrols and engage with our communities to identify their concerns.
To engage with our schools and other learning establishments to provide support to them and their pupils
To work with our Police colleagues, councils and other organisations to identify specific areas or persons of concerns and have a proactive response to preventing offending.

Intel development work to target dealing and supply. This will support any warrant applications at court

Shoplifting

Issued 01 June 2026

We will be engaging with our retail outlets to listen to their concerns, give security advice when required and gather evidence to support any action against offenders.
We will work with our colleagues particularly where children or young people are involved to ensure they are safeguarded as well as being aware of the potential criminality of their actions.
We will deal with prolific thieves using banning letters, civil orders and where necessary the criminal justice system to make them take responsibilities for their actions

UKPAC (UK Partners Against Crime) and Auror are collaborating to transform how retail crime is reported and managed in the UK, with Devon and Cornwall Police (DCP) acting as a key partner in adopting this technology. Officers have visited stores to increase awareness and to prevent future offences.

No change from Jan, patrols continue of the high street and built up areas in both Chudleigh and Exminster have taken place in support of our retail outlets. We will continue responding to reports of thefts from our retail community.
