Honiton Rural

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Devon and Cornwall.

Local Priority Issues

Rural Crime & Engagement

Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the country, but it tends to go unreported. It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices, the environment, and can damage local communities.

The Honiton Neighbourhood Team are conducting a visible presence in the rural community to offer reassurance and crime prevention. The aim is to improve connectivity with the rural communities and provide education to users of our beautiful countryside. This includes attending rural events to gain knowledge about the issues effecting the rural communities and to offer the crime prevention advice.

Issued 01 May 2026

No crimes that classify as Rural Crimes (such as burglaries in rural areas and wildlife crimes) have been reported within our Rural Communities within the last month. This continues the downward trend from last month where there was only one such crime reported

Actioned 01 August 2026

Anti-Social Driving & Vehicle Offences
There will be an increased focus on Road Safety within our rural communities to reduce collisions, improve driver behaviours and increase community confidence through visible, intelligence led road policing activity. This will include conducting speed checks in identified hotspot areas, supporting and expanding Community Speed Watch Activity, address vehicle related ASB through engagement and enforcement, and promoting road safety awareness.

Issued 01 May 2026

Despite an increase in traffic volume throughout the region and lighter, drier evenings, there have been no reports of ASB Driving within our rural communities over the last month and no reports of anti social behaviour within that same period.

One out of area offender was arrested for providing a positive sample of alcohol at the roadside within the last month.

Actioned 01 August 2026
