Prolific Shoplifting Shoplifting is an ever increasing occurrence which results in local businesses losing valuable revenue. Issued 01 July 2025 |
Update: 13 May 2025 - Updates the DISC system which can be used by shops who have signed up to report shoplifting and share information is proving really successful in the Camborne Area. This was funded and implemented by Camborne BID to assist with dealing with this prolific problem. In April for Camborne, Redruth, Illogan and Pool we saw a 24.3% reduction compared to the previous month. We have had increased visibility in the town centre and have been liaising with businesses to focus our efforts in this area.
In April two individuals were detained for shoplifting in excess of £100 worth of stock from shops in Camborne. The arrest is a good example of the DISC system as the arrest was assisted by shop workers using the system to allow officers to act quickly and apprehend the suspects. Actioned 01 October 2025 |
Violence against Women and Girls Tackling Violence against Women and Girls is a priority. The harm caused to victims and society by violence against women and girls in all its forms- including but not limited to harassment, stalking, rape, sexual assault, murder, honour-based abuse, coercive control - is immeasurable. Issued 01 July 2025 |
Update: 13 May 2025 - Update We continue to patrol the night time economy in the area and deploy officers under Op Vigilant. This is a preventative/disruption tactic where predatory risk factors are identified by officers who are specially trained within the Evening and night turn economy. Violence against Women and Girls remains a priority and we work closely with partners including licensing and regularly attend pubwatch meetings. Actioned 01 October 2025 |
Dangerous Drugs Networks A significant amount of crime and ASB is linked to drugs. We are committed to tackling and disrupting drug related ASB, County Lines, Organised Crime Groups and Criminal Exploitation. Issued 01 July 2025 |
Update: 13 May 2025 - Update The Policing teams in Camborne continue to work hard to tackle dangerous drugs networks in the area. In April and May we have had numerous pro-active drugs operations. In April a male was arrested and remanded in Camborne for supply of class A drugs following a plain clothes policing operation. On 10th May a warrant was conducted in the Redruth area and a male was released under investigation for possession with intent to supply. We will also continue our focus around safeguarding by visiting vulnerable persons at risk of cuckooing and working closely with our partner agencies. Actioned 01 October 2025 |
Town Centre Anti Social Behaviour Camborne and Redruth We continue to patrol the town centres of Camborne and Redruth during the days and evenings. This is in order to provide reassurance, visibility and will act as a deterrence. Particular focus will be on Anti social behaviour and aggressive begging. If you see anything, please report via 101 or use the Devon and Cornwall Police Website. You can also use the Webchat. In an emergency, please always call 999. Issued 01 July 2025 |
Update: 13 May 2025 - Update Our high visibility patrols are continuing in all of our towns and surrounding villages. This is having a good impact and we are pleased to be getting out engaging with members of the public. We continue to work closely with Kay Smith our Anti-Social behaviour officer for Camborne which assists in our ability to deal quickly with those causing ASB in the area. The patrols will continue with assistance from the Neighbourhood Support Team and Force Support Group. If you see officers in the town, please come and say hello. Actioned 01 October 2025 |
