Looe Area

Your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) is a group of local police officers dedicated to serving your community. The team is made up of officers and PCSOs based in your area, supported by additional officers from the wider area.

We work closely with local authorities, community leaders and residents to decide our policing priorities for the area. This helps us to find useful, long-term solutions to local problems, while maintaining our wider focus on reducing crime across Devon and Cornwall.

Please find contact details for your Neighbourhood Policing Team provided below.

ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

Issued 28 July 2026

ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

- Visible Patrols - We will continue to conduct visible patrols in throughout South East Cornwall. Unfortunately, there has been a slight increase in ASB, a lot of which occurred over the May bank holiday. My team will be looking to work in partnership with BTP, with a hope that we can prevent further ASB and provide some education to those looking to commit crime.

- Beat Patrol Plans – Reports by the public will dictate where we are patrolling. We continue to respond to reports of ASB and increase our visibility in these areas.

- Partnership Working – We continue to work closely with our partners within Looe, to deal robustly with reports of persistent ASB. We discuss any areas of concerns during our team meetings, which is also attended by our sector ASB officer.

- As we approach the summer months, regular meetings are taking place between police and partner agencies to ensure plans are in place to ensure any events are enjoyable for the community, whilst endeavouring to reduce any potential ASB. Our licensing officer is working closely with retail premises to educate and remind them of the importance of challenging persons believed to be under age or, persons involved in purchasing alcohol for those underage.

RETAIL CRIME

Issued 28 July 2026

RETAIL CRIME

- Hotspot visits – Hotspot policing is a crime prevention strategy that concentrates police resources and activities on small, high-crime areas (hotspots) like specific streets, parks, or intersections, based on data showing crime clusters, not even distribution. By increasing visible patrols, problem-solving, and community engagement in these concentrated spots, police aim to deter potential offenders, reduce crime, and create a greater sense of public safety. South East Cornwall has designated Hotspots, which are concentrated around retail areas.

- Engagement – we have engaged directly with business owners, promoting how to contact your local Police Neighbourhood Team and promote engagement through community messaging. As we fast approach the holiday season, my team will be visiting retail premises to provide prevention advice, which will concentrate on the location of displayed items. It is imperative that retail premises continue to report retail theft and endeavour to provide evidence to police, to ensure robust action is taken and positive outcomes are achieved.

- UKPAC - UKPAC is a not-for-profit co-operative made up of like-minded businesses, police, crime prevention agencies and legal professionals — all working together to improve trading conditions and community safety. Working with our Crime Prevention Team, we have sourced funding for a free trial of UKPAC to allow businesses to trial this platform and have been offering this to businesses throughout the sector. Please speak with your local officers or PCSO's to find out more about this incentive.

DRUG DEALING AND ASSOCIATED EXPLOITATION

Issued 28 July 2026

DRUG DEALING AND ASSOCIATED EXPLOITATION

- Thankfully, we have low reported incidents of drug possession and supply across the Looe area. That said, we will continue to develop any intelligence surrounding drug related criminality and robust action will be taken.

- Licensing Checks – Our licensing team have a great relationship with licensed premises within Looe and surrounding areas. We will however, continue to work closely with our licensing team to conduct visits at pubs completing licensing checks with opportunity for drug wipes within locations if concerned with drug use.
