Suspected drugs were seized and several people arrested following a busy day for police teams across Torbay. The Torquay Neighbourhood Police Team, supported by the Neighbourhood Support Team, were out early on Wednesday 1 July executing a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at a house in the town. This was a positive result with suspected class A and B drugs found at the property. A man was arrested at the address on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, as well as possession of counterfeit currency and was taken into custody. A short time later, following information from a member of the public about suspected drug activity at Memorial Park in Torquay, a female was identified by Torbay Council CCTV operators. The woman was wanted on warrant for failing to appear at court for drug offences and was arrested. Later the same day another wanted female was spotted by the CCTV operator who guided the police officers to her location. After a brief foot chase the woman was arrested for being wanted on warrant and failing to appear at court in connection with a number of shoplifting offences. Torquay Sector Inspector Rob Harvey said: “I would like to say thanks to the CCTV team and members of the public for their reports. This operation demonstrates some great team work across the Community Safety Partnership.” Meanwhile in Paignton the local neighbourhood policing team, alongside the Neighbourhood Support Team, also executed a warrant on Wednesday morning (1 July) under the Misuse of Drugs Act. At the address in Paignton officers found and seized suspected illegal drugs, a variety of weapons and a number of other items in connection with an ongoing investigation. As a result of the warrant, a girl aged 14 and a boy aged 16 were arrested at the Paignton address on suspicion of vehicle theft offences. They have since been released on bail while enquiries continue. Paignton Sector Inspector Pete Giesens commented: “This is another example of the positive work that the neighbourhood police teams carry out each week. We will keep focusing on making Torbay a safer place. Your information helps us get results.” If you have information about crime or anti-social behaviour in your community, please continue to report it to Devon & Cornwall Police via 101 or the Force website Home | Devon & Cornwall Police For regular updates from local police teams please follow Torquay Police and Paignton Police on Facebook. | ||
