Is Your E-Bike Legal?

Not all electric bikes are legal to ride on UK roads, cycle lanes, and public spaces.

A LEGAL E-BIKE MUST:

✅ Have pedals that can be used to propel the bike
✅ Have a motor with a maximum continuous rated power of 250 watts
✅ Stop providing motor assistance at 15.5 mph (25 km/h)
✅ Meet UK Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) regulations

YOUR E-BIKE MAY BE ILLEGAL IF:

❌ It can be powered without pedalling (except permitted walk-assist functions)
❌ It has been modified or “de-restricted” to exceed legal speed limits
❌ It has a motor exceeding legal power limits
❌ It is being ridden on public roads without the required registration, insurance, and licence
