HOLIDAY WATER SAFETY |
||
|
A message from your local Neighbourhood Policing Team ๐
As the holiday season approaches, many of us head to the coast, rivers, and open water to enjoy the sunshine.
Please take a moment to think about your safety and the safety of others when near water. Water conditions can change quickly, even on calm days.
๐ Always supervise children closely near water ๐ง Be aware that water can be much colder than it looks โ cold water shock is a real risk ๐ซ Avoid swimming in unfamiliar areas or where there are strong currents ๐ฆบ If youโre taking part in water activities, consider wearing a life jacket or buoyancy aid ๐ฑ Let someone know where youโre going and when you expect to return
If you get into difficulty in the water, try to remain calm, float on your back, and signal for help. In an emergency by the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Enjoy the warmer weather, but please do so safely
