Illegal e-motorcycles |
||
|
Despite the Neighbourhood Team's recent efforts to tackle illegal e motorcycles in the St Austell area we unfortunately are still getting regular reports of them being used on the road. The photo shows 3 non DVLA registered e motorcycles being ridden on what is the now the old A391 at Stannary Road, Stenalees which was captured by one our speed detection unit officers whilst they were driving through the area. These types of motorbikes are classed as motor vehicles under the Road Traffic Act and need to be registered with the DVLA, insured and subject to a MOT in order to be used on a road or public place. Riders need to have a valid UK driving licence. If you are a rider of an illegal one please do not use them on the road or public place. If we stop you riding one, it will be seized under powers available to us under Section 165A of the Road Traffic Act. It will likely result in something you paid over £2k for having a date with a scrap yard crusher...
