Anti-social behaviour in Portreath |
We have recently received an influx of youths gathering on mass down in the Portreath area again. Last year we had the same issue, and we are urging parents/guardians to discourage their children from attending these mass gatherings. Last year we had a very high quantity of calls regarding youth ASB, criminal damage and multiple traffic offences with youths on mopeds. We would like to encourage the children to use the area in a respectful and appropriate manner. However, these mass gathering are unsafe and becoming a serious cause for concern. Last year we spoke with some of the youths while out on foot patrol – they stated they had nowhere to go. In light of this a youth prevision was put on for them. This has been funded by POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) via Police and Portreath Parish Counsil – the Parish council have confirmed that this provision will also be funding through the summer aswell. The provision is done through 4YOUTH and runs every Saturday 1730-1830, Emma Hamblin runs the group which is free of charge and has differing activates each week…plus snacks and chips. Please note this provision is for 10-16 year olds. Location: The parish council building next to the public toilets. There is no need to book.
The Neighbourhood Team encourage any persons who experience anti-social behaviour, and anyone with information, to report this via our website or phone 101 in a non-emergency. Please phone 999 in an emergency. We aim to increase patrols where possible.
Kind Regards
