Road Safety Operation - SEATON |
||
|
Dear Resident,
Officers from the Seaton Neighbourhood Team were joined by officers from Sidmouth, Axminster and Honiton Neighbourhood Teams as well as The Special Constabulary for an operation looking to tackle road safety.
With the recent weather it has become imperative to ensure that both you and a your vehicle are in a roadworthy condition. The aim of the operation was to target anti-social driving, vehicle defects and moving road traffic offences.
The operation began on Harbour Road, Seaton and the first vehicle stopped resulted in the driver being arrested for driving whilst disqualified and driving with no insurance. Following a search of the vehicle, they were further arrested for Possessing an imitation firearm and the vehicle was seized. The suspect has been released pending further enquiries.
This one arrest tied up a number of the officers on the operation but officers persisted and continued to stop a number of vehicles and issue Traffic Offence Reports for 1 document offence, 1 vehicle defect and 1 moving road traffic offence.
Such operations will be repeated in the future. If you have any concerns around the standard of driving or the roadworthiness of vehicles on the road, you can report these via 101 or online.
Please remember any abandoned vehicles will need to be reported to the local council who will look to remove them.
