Local Priorities Cycle theft Concern Update |
||
|
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Cycle theft, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. On 16/11/2025, Honiton Neighbourhood Team were made aware of two high value e-bikes stolen from NEW STREET, HONITON at 1350hrs. Two offenders were quickly identified after having their photographs taken by a member of the public. Honiton Neighbourhood Team quickly began to conduct area searches and address checks for the two offenders but were unable to locate them in the local vicinity. As the Neighbourhood Team continued their investigation, the offenders were circulated with our colleagues in Exeter. Within a few hours, the offenders were found in Exeter and promptly arrested and one of the valuable e-bikes retrieved and returned to the original owner. Both offenders were remanded in custody and charged to court, with one being recalled to prison having already been out on license. Cycle theft should be reported to us immediately on discovery. Delay in doing so can mean missed opportunities to recover your bike and prosecute the offender. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.devon-cornwall.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
